Adding windows printer in linux

well hi i am using ubuntu. sorry i m newbie so questions r obvious pls
bear that. what i want to know is when i able to click on sys-admin-
printer i can able to see the share which is been made in WINDOWS
PRINTER VIA SAMBA option. but when i click on verify button sometimes
it says Print share inaccessible or sometimes it prompts me a window
with my username by default n asks me to enter password. now firstly
my question do i need to conf CUPS here or need to add username n pass
to windows printer.
