As much as I enjoy reading your wonderful ideas in regards to
re-inventing the wheel and your complete and utter dissatisfaction with
current *NIX tools for building software, I respectfully request that
you drop this thread. It was entertaining about 3 days ago, when it
started. I don't think this is the place for this discussion to be
happening. Gentoo is only one small piece of the puzzle. If you can't
take a look at the big picture (in regards to autoconf/automake
supporting more than one Operating System, let alone more than one linux
distribution), please go do some research on UNIX-like operating
systems, or even better, take a look at gcc.gnu.org's list of supported
architectures: http://gcc.gnu.org/install/specific.html

My point is this: there were some very good things said in this thread.
At this time, it's a dead horse, so please stop beating it.
