Could you please also list the contents of the following directories?
/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/scim-1.0/1.4.0/IMEngine/
/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/scim-1.0/1.4.0/SetupUI/

And, please paste the output of "dpkg -l | grep scim".

Thanks,
Tz-Huan

Thanks. Could you please also check what processes related to scim are running?
"ps auxwww | grep scim", for example.

Thanks,
Tz-Huan

Thanks. However, it is scim-1.4.13-2, right?

Could you please install scim-1.4.14-2 again and check for the
running processes?

Besides, could you please describe the situation more precisely?
For example, when you issue the trigger keys, the scim panel is showed or not?
Which programs do you test? Can you switch to different input methods
(using keyboard or mouse)? When you try to type something, nothing
printed or just plain English letters?

Thanks,
Tz-Huan

Sorry for the ambiguity. I mean "virtual machine". I use VirtualBox
(https://www.virtualbox.org/) to setup a virtual machine, and
install i386 sid on it to try to re-produce the problem.

It is easy to use, the problem is that it is impossible to be less than 5MB.
Actually I won't "send" it to you via email, I'll put it somewhere so
that you can download it. How do you think?

I have never used "VM images".
http://www.google.com.tw/search?q=%22VM+image%22&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8
doesn't make it clear what that is.
You can send me anything... but please be sure it is under 5 MB, and
also give me instructions.

Or maybe we should just wait a few days for others to hit the same bug.
