I was unable to start the applet, at session start, and experienced
exactly what was reported there :
http://mail.gnome.org/archives/networkmanager-list/2005-September/msg00041.html
:
"and I got a dialog box saying,
The NetworkManager Applet could not find some required resources. It
cannot continue."
I applied the workaround suggested in the followup message : as root :
gtk-update-icon-cache -f /usr/share/icons/hicolor
Dunno if this is a problem with the packaging of network-manager-gnome, or a consequence of other packages messing
with gnome's installation and expected state for running network-manager ?
Hope this helps.
Best regards,
