I am also experiencing random keyboard failures similar to those reported. It
appears to me that they started for me after the latest X upgrade:

2008-01-04 13:24:54 upgrade xserver-xorg-input-kbd 1:1.2.0-1+1.2.1 1:1.2.2-3

The failure might happen randomly once a day. What happens is that the
modifier keys stop working. That is, I can keep typing, but shift, ctrl, and
alt don't do anything. If I try to press ctrl+alt+backspace, then the KDE
menu starts flickering, as if some key were stuck.

This might also be related to me running VMPlayer (but not full screen, as
others have reported). What is odd is that the shift keys continue to work
inside the VMPlayer.
