Hello All, I am new to the group and joined because I just spent the last two weeks trying to get Linrad and MAP65 to work with no success.
I am able to get Linrad and Winrad working very nicely however.
The problem is that when MAP65IQ tries to decode the first sequence of data, the clock freezes on MAP65 and there are no decode but the MAP65 waterfall continues to function along with the waterfalls clock. I tried for days trying all kinds of Linrad configurations with no luck.
The hardware is a brand new RF Space SDR-IQ receiver and 2.7 GHz computer with 2 gigs of Ram.
I'm sure that people here will be happy to help you get MAP65-IQ running properly.
I need some additional information, to get started.
> I am able to get Linrad and Winrad working very nicely however.
Are you really using both Linrad and Winrad? Why? Winrad has nothing to do with MAP65-IQ.

What versions of Linrad and MAP65-IQ are you using? I strongly recommend that you start by installing the packaged combination of Linrad 3.05b and MAP65-IQ r1116, available at
Run-time error messages from MAP65-IQ code appear in the DOS-like command-prompt window (the one with black background) that starts when MAP65-IQ is launched. What error messages appear there when the first decode fails?

Hello All,

Hi Jeff. I see the same problem here but only when running Map65 on a
different computer than Linrad. With Map65 running on the same computer
that never happens. But when I send the output to a different ip address
and run Map65 there, quite often I see the same problem you observe.
However if I restart Map65 several times (maybe 3 - 5 times on average) then
it will suddenly start working and then never fails after that. I did
mention this to Joe on Monday.
I have been working on other problems since then so have not looked into
this further, but one thing I suspect is that it may relate to what part of
the minute I start map65 in. If I start it late in the minute then it does
not attempt to decode at the end of that minute, but then at the end of the
next minute is when it freezes. I have not carefully tested to see if the
successful start is when I start Map65 near the beginning of a minute, but I
am wondering if that could be the case.
Again, this does not happen when I run both Linrad and Map65 on same
computer. I'm running them on a Dell laptop with about 1.6 GHz processor
and 2 gigs of ram. An earlier attempt to do it with only 500 mb of ram
failed miserably, so make sure you have lots of memory.
Hope this helps,
73, Russ K2TXB

I finally got around to downloading MAP-65iq_r1116 as suggested, below. But when I start up MAP-65iq the black window opens, flashes some writing for a second and closes the window (too quick to read). The program does not launch? I am running it on a Dell P3-866 win2000pro with 128mb memory - is that too old? My P4-2.33 has gotten a virus in windows and will have to be rebuilt, so not available right now.

I guessed that might be the problem. I will install it on my new Dell P4-2.33 when I get it rebuilt, but until then I will try installing it on my wife's new Laptop P4-2.0 with 3mb memory and Vista. We only use it when traveling.
I wanted to try to have MAP-65iq running for upcoming EME weekends. Let you know how it goes. We might upgrade the laptop to Seven; do you know if this presents any problems running MAP-65iq/Linrad?

OK, well I have nothing to lose by trying the laptop. If it doesn't run under Vista then I will have to wait until I get the new P4 desktop fixed (crashes on loading windows-logon virus so probably implies reformating and reloading from scratch). I am going to try rebuilding another P3 computer and if that goes well I will try the P4 (never done this before).

Hi Ed. I recently rebuilt my Dell laptop. I was thinking about upgrading to
Windows7 at the same time but there were no drivers available for W7, for my
machine. I started by downloading all of the newest drivers for my laptop
and saving them on a memory stick. Dell has a great docoment you can
download which tells you the proper order to install all the drivers. Then
I made a ghost image of the hard disk so I could get back to where I was in
case something went wrong.
Then installed XP Pro, including a reformat of the hard disk. Then
installed all the drivers in the order specified and finally started
installing other software like MS Word, and all my ham radio stuff. Result
is that the laptop runs like a new computer, none of the bugs and stalls
that it had been plagued with for a couple of years. (I did also increase
the memory from 500mb to 2g, but that was done after the rebuild.)
So, try to locate all the drivers first. Especially drivers for laptop
unique hardware such as the battery, display, touchpad, etc.
