write in fields

Hi Dave,
do we really need a write( ostream, string ) in ALL fields ?
it seems to me it is just to write a name between the type and the
parameter of fields,
where it could be fine (but less aesthetic I agree) to put it afterwards ?

Because the price to pay is to have ALL fields (including givaro,
fflas-ffpack, polynomials, matrixdomains, etc.) have this extra method ???

Also,
it seems to me that the matrix market sparse format writer resembles
FORMAT_ONE_BASED
am I wrong about this ?
