Subject: Great IRC Client, but a couple of suggestions
hi satoshi and all of the current LimeChat team!

whilst again on the hunt for some nice, functional but small gui irc-
client for os x, i finally stumbled upon yours and let me tell you,
i'm so happy a just a got a hold of this. it serves my needs almost
perfectly but i'm still having a couple of suggestions - well, of
course i do ;)

*) /help should show up all available commands supported by limechat.
furthermore, /help <command> should show up a little overview of how
to use that command. i was tired of going with /a|b|c+Auto-Completion
to look for the supported ones, so i just might as well have a quick
look into the sources at the moment. not really pratical, though.

*) the command /query without any parameter is closing an existing
query-session a the moment. sorry, but this is just confusing. /
unquery or /dequery just would make more sense - a /query alone should
actually lead to no action at all or well, output some kind of short
help-text to the user.

*) limechat can be used quite a lot by keyboard only but as soon as I
e.g. /whois someone, a small window pops up and i quickly grab the
mouse by consuetude even though, of course, i could just hit space to
close it up either. but from a usability point of view, this opening
of windows can become quite confusing from time to time because people
just tend to get on their mouses as soon as windows come into play.
just the same here i guess and well, it be nice to rather have this
output as a server message anyway or at least an option somewhere to
put it that way ;)

*) irssi has some nice feature in-built that not only auto-completes
usernames, but commands and channel names too. this is just awesome
and makes using irc by keyboard just much more fun.

i'd love to help with writing some short help texts (english, german)
and might be even able to fix that /unquery thing by myself, but i
can't get myself onto the last two issues for my ruby knowledge is
very much limited yet.

but besides of all that, you guys probably have put up one of the best
irc clients for the mac so far!

thanks for your great work and keep on going!

regards,
marco

Good idea. I'll add it.

Sounds reasonable. I noticed Colloquy doesn't. I'll consider.

Mac OSX demands users to use mouse ;)
But i'll consider to add an option for it.

The latest version have commands completion.
Channel names completion would be great. I'll add it.

I'll be glad if you would like to write some documents :)

hi
The use of /query  with no parameters to close a query is a very old
IRC client command convention that dates back to ircII, the very first
client ever written for IRC around 1989. Many later clients derived
or forked from ircII support it, including some later equipped with
GUIs and close buttons.

Thanks for the information!
OK. I'll disable /query with no parameters to close a private message window.
