Hello Lights Out America supporters and welcome to our Google Group! As
many of you know, we started with a city-wide lights out event in San Francisco
on October 20th. It was an amazing success in large part due to your support.
Thank you.
But that was
just the beginning. People across the country continue to write to ask how they
can get involved. So we launched Lights Out America to harness that enthusiasm
and to keep the momentum going. We chose March 29th for our Lights Out America
event to coincide with the second annual "Earth Hour" organized by our friends
from Sydney, Australia. As it turns out, the World Wildlife Fund is planning to
bring Earth Hour to the United States on that same date, March 29th. So, rather
than launch a separate Lights Out America event, we've chosen to support WWF to
make Earth Hour a success.
This group is
an effort to do that. It's a forum where you can take the movement forward,
share ideas, get involved, ask questions. Please keep in mind that this is a
un-moderated group—meaning it's here for you to exchange ideas and coordinate.
We'll do our best to keep up with all the questions. You should also feel free
to contact the WWF directly, as they are taking the lead on the event going forward:
