Is the "Services" tab still broken, or is it supposed to be fixed? I was trying to generate some new code because my current code broke--I'm guessing because of our bonky CMS--and it doesn't seem to save the "online" Contingency options. I had avoided the newish widget generator for a long time... The "Services" tab is the only place to actually generate code, isn't that correct?

Hi Jeff,

If you provide a URL for the broken page, we might be able to help you correct the problem.

Yes, the Services tab is the only place that the snippet code is generated. However, you'll notice with the new style snippets that the snippet does not change at all as you modify the service levels, widget type, widgets, etc. These new snippets are designed so that you embed them in an HTML page once and then tweak as needed via the admin site. Ideally, never having to touch the HTML again. This should simply things greatly, especially if you have a lot of widgets or if you don't have ready access to your library's website.

With regard to the new style snippets, the online contingency option is not used in the case of embedded widgets. If you are having trouble with the online contingency option and you aren't using an embedded widget, could you reply with the URL for the misbehaving snippet? Or alternatively, you could send an e-mail to sup...@libraryh3lp.com with your top-level admin name and the code snippet name. We can certainly help you get that going.

Best,

I'll email support with specifics, but just in case others are seeing what I'm seeing, I'm talking about pop-up widgets, as in the screenshot I posted, not embedded. I like the new approach a lot in principle, but if I can't see the online contingency code, then I can't modify it...

Hi Jeff and everybody,

Jeff, I saw your e-mail to support. Thanks! I think we can get you fixed up. I'll be replying shortly. :-)

I just wanted to add for posterity that, although the Service tab currently only shows the snippet, we are going to add back in the "behind the scenes" code for those who want fancier customizations. We're just not quite there yet. And in the meantime, there is a docs page that shows you how to do fancier customizations by hand at http://docs.libraryh3lp.com/html-code-samples.html.

Hope that helps,
Amy
