There is an online program of talks for learning about games and being inspired about possibilities for your library which you can participate in.

3 May 9.00 am (Australian Eastern Standard Time), Jeff Holmes will be talking about games and communities.  Jeff is a PhD student ( http://gamesandimpact.org/team/jeff-holmes/ ) doing research into games and community. You can read his blog ( http://gamerhetor.com/ ) and follow him on twitter ( https://twitter.com/gamerhetor ).  There is more information about Jeff's research here ( http://gamerhetor.com/author/gamerhetor/ ).  Jeff's talk will inspire you with ideas about how to use games in your library.

If you are in the USA or Canada the talk with take place 2 May at 4.00pm (if you are in the same time zone as Arizona).

Location information and how to participate is available here

As well as the World of Warcraft location we will be using a Google+ hangout with shared screen.  The most interactive way to participate in the talks will be in World of Warcraft, however, you will be able to watch from a Google+ hangout and your questions will be conveyed to the in game discussion.   This worked well in the first talk this year.

These talks are a great way to hear from speakers we would otherwise not be able to learn from.

You can look at the transcripts of previous talks here

Please contact me if you would like to participate via Google+ hangout.  You will need to install some free software to use this.

Please contact me with any questions about this.

Yours sincerely
