There is an online program of talks for learning about games and being
inspired about possibilities for your library which you can participate
in.
The first presenter for 2013 is Kelly Bergstrom. Kelly is a PhD
student from Canada and some of her research looks at gender and games. This is
a critical area to think about for games programming in libraries and it will be
of interest to libraries who are seeking to involve more girls and women in
games programmes. You can find out more about
her research and publications here http://kellybergstrom.ca/wp/?page_id=266.
You can also
follow her on twitter https://twitter.com/kellybergstrom.
This will take place 22 March 9.00am (Australian eastern summer time)
As well as the World of Warcraft location we will be experimenting with a
Google+ hangout with shared screen. The most interactive way to participate in
the talks will be in World of Warcraft, however, you will be able to watch from
a Google+ hangout and your questions will be conveyed to the in game
discussion.
These talks are a great way to hear from speakers we would
otherwise not be able to learn from.
Please contact me if you would like to participate via Google+ hangout.
You will need to install some free software to use this.
Please contact me with any questions about this.
yours sincerely
