Hi Great Brain,

I am in the market for some good PS2 games to use in my afterschool open play sessions.

To give you a little background -- my game labs are held in our storytime room, which has a  tiered floor.  I put one game on the a projector with a sound system, and two others on TV's.   Kids float from game to game, as the mood strikes them.   I have 2 PS2's and a Wii.

Lately, the kids have wanted Rock Band and Guitar Hero on the "big screen" with Super Smash Bros. Brawl the Wii.  That leaves 1 PS2 open for another game.  I'm having a hard time finding games that work in an open play session -- muliple players, don't take a long time for each round.

The suggestions the kids have are not that useful -- HALO, which can't be played on a PS2; Half Life/Portal, which isn't multiplayer, is rated M and doesn't work well for an open game session; GTA4; not touching that one.

So any thoughts would be appreicated!

Marvel Alliance is a good one.  It’s T for Teen, allows for up to four players and the superhero fans like it.  The similarly themed Justice League Heroes is another, though it only allows for two players at a time.

Your set up is very similar to mine - we have 2 wiis, and 2 gamecubes, and a PS2 (but we can only set up either a wii or the PS2, not both at the same time). We've been doing Rock Band 2 on one Wii (on bigscreen projector), Wii with SSB Melee on the big TV, and the two gamecubes with Mario Kart, SSB Brawl and Naruto on the small TVs.

We are eagerly awaiting the TMNT game coming out this fall for Wii, and there was a jousting/medieval game that was announced but has not been forthcoming... we're also looking for other good multiplayer Teen games for either the Wii or the Gamecube.

We have Star Wars: Battlefront for it and it's been pretty popular.

The Lego games like Lego Star Wars, Lego Indy, and Lego Batman are fun drop in/drop out 2-player games as well.

If your kids are asking for a racing game try Need for Speed or
Burnout( Which is about crashing your car not winning a race)
