How about something like "Family Games Day" or "Games and Activities
Day"?

The emphasis on "games" and "families" will surely clue people in that
more than just Wii and X-box will be available...

Or "Game Play Day" or "Family Game Play Day".

Gillian Wiseman

-----Original Message-----

After National Gaming Day, our Library Director was very pleased with
the turnout and wants to continue events that are very similar (if not
the same) as NGD.

We normally run Game Days, which focus primarily on video games. We actually make two item numbers, one for the game and one for the
booklet. If they want to check out the pamphlet, they ask for it when
checking out the game. It makes it a little strange in our catalog
though, since both items are included under one record. Here's an
example from our OPAC:
[link]

To put this in perspective, Gamefly, the biggest mail-order rental company
of games in the country, doesn't even send out the instruction booklet.

While the booklet is nice to have, everything's online now or even featured
in an in-game tutorial. I sent my reply directly to Sarah but thought I would send it to the group as well. See below.

The only inserts we do "police" are CD inserts as these often contain lyrics. We also police mixed media items which include a CD and/or DVD and book.

-----Original Message-----
Sent: Thursday, November 19, 2009 9:15 AM

We don't circulate games at this time, but I can tell you what I expect
we'd do, and what we do with similar types of materials:

The case is clearly labeled with what should be inside (1 booklet and 1
game disc). We would charge the patron $1 for a lost booklet. We would
also have the original stored in Tech Services, and only a (color) copy

We have been having the same trouble. When we first lost a few booklets we
tried to replace them using Ebay and by calling the game publishers and
distributes. (aside: Ubisoft sent us the entire game just to replace our
missing booklet, great customer service). For a short time we just let the
losses slide since it seemed ridiculous to charge for a fifty dollar game
