Librarian Guild forms on Kirin Tor Server in WoW

Thanks to Conàn for getting this rolling! A new guild for Librarians on the Kirin Tor server in World of Warcraft started up at the end of May.

A party to celebrate reaching 50 members in the new librarian guild, "The Librarian" will take place this Saturday June 6 beginning at 10AM (I assume server time, which is Central). Location: Royal Library, Stormwind Keep, in the Northeast corner of Stormwind City, an Alliance stronghold on the Eastern Kingdom. ~Coordinates: 74, 20

Members and new recruits welcome, if you already play WoW, options include rolling up a new character on the Kirin Tor RPG server, or moving a character from another server (cost is ~25 I believe). The guild has half a dozen level 60+ characters and a guild bank with four tabs. World of Warcraft software can be downloaded from their website (http://www.worldofwarcraft.com) or borrowed from a friend - purchase a license to use it by buying onlne or grabbing a 2-month subscription card for about $30 at your favorite game store.

Oddly enough, I do have a toon on Kirin Tor... however, it is Horde.

Along these lines ("WoW as The New Golf") I will bring up that Science
magazine started a guild for researchers and those interested in the
study of virtual worlds on the Earthen Ring server, guild = Science
(Horde). Guild leader is Sciencemag, although the most common Officer
I see online is Retief. Only officers can invite. Use the /who command
or put them on a Friends list to see if they are online.

There was a "first scientific conference" held midMay that drew about
100 attendees:

The June 20th article of Science will have an article on the
conference and open the guild to all those interested in the science
of virtual worlds. You do not need to be a researcher to participate
(although the rather strictured member system definitely mirrors the
bureaucracy of academe!)

I do not play there regularly, but if you want to find me, I am Krayte
or Tamanare. Frankly, as a long time WoW player and guild leader
myself, the Librarian guild sounds much friendlier. However, since I
*am* doing research, I had to join the Science guild!
