Hi Doug,
Minecraft? Yes! My school library and two others are involved in a multi-school multi-player server for Minecraft. You can read about what we've done so far on http://gamingeducators.pbworks.com and on http://minecraftclubhub.pbworks.com. We were also part of a really cool couple of webcasts (on the TL Virtual Cafe and the Teachers Teaching Teachers) dealing with Minecraft. You can find links to both those items on my wiki, http://mzmollyTLsharespace.pbworks.com and any of us would be willing to answer questions - emails are listed on these sites.
Hope this helps!
Diana
P.S. There's a neat merging of games - a Minecraft server devoted to a replica of the dungeon from the RPG game Dwimmermount. Contact me offlist if you want more details on that.

    Hey all,

I just received an email from a colleague of mine asking if we have
ever done any programming with Minecraft. We have not, but like him, I
am very interested in the idea as we have a pretty avid following
    here.

I was wondering if any of you have done any programming with
Minecraft, or know of colleagues who have, who would be willing share
their experiences (i.e. type of program, assessment of its success/
failure) and whether you (or said colleague) would be willing to be
contacted offlist with additional questions by email?

    Thanks so much,

At the Georgetown County Library we now have Minecraft on four of our 360s.

Our MAG Club has used it as an activity for one gaming night. https://www.facebook.com/gtownmagclub, and we plan on hosting a survivor competition as well as maintaining a "group" world on each of the machines.

Previously we have had it on Game Room PCs. We didn't host a server but several of our regulars played.

Cheers!

There's an article by Erin Daly in my Gaming Life column this month
for School Library Journal about Minecraft in a Public Library in MA:

Have you tried Minecraft, Kelly?  I just read that article, but it did not seem feasible for me to really work with it in the public library setting.
