Hi,
Can anyone recommend good vendors for videogames (to be circulated)
that take purchase orders from libraries? We have been having less
luck with Baker & Taylor's stock as we have had in the past. Thanks
for your help!

I have been purchasing more and more from Amazon. They have older titles, cheap prices and no rep will call on you. :)
If I want a field trip from work, I trek to the closest EB Games and load up on used games. That is a real budget stretcher.

You can also try Dell Computers: http://www.dell.com/ I know they sold
PC games to the Carver's Bay Branch Library when they bought computers
for their grant.

I heard that Ingram Book Company is going to be selling PS2 and Wii games starting in a month or so.

www.theavcafe.com has games to purchase and you can use a PO with
them. I am also on the lookout for vendors!

To those who use Amazon, how do you go about paying? How is their tax
free purchasing. They are currently off limits for me, but I am
mildly hopeful on the Best Buy for Business one. Thanks for that
suggestion!

We use Amazon for buying games. We use an institutional credit card. We have Amazon Prime so shipping is free. It's all done through our acquisitions unit, which also purchases used books through Amazon, so it wasn't much of a stretch to purchase non-book items too.

a collegue and I had this same question at hand as we went through the
vendors at ALA Mid-Winter last month. BWI is just starting to offer
video games and they are really trying to be the one only source
libraries will need. also a vendor someewhere else explained that the
reason so few library vendors sell video games is because there is
hardly any profit at all. any how back to BWI, they come with full
marc records.

if anyone has tried BWI and has more to offer, I'd like to knowif
there offerings are as good as they made them sound on the sales
floor.

hope that helps.

I have not had good experiences with BWI. Last I used them, they either
took forever to ship our items, or shipped the wrong ones. This was books,
though.

BWI was very upfront about problems they've had in the past. in fact,
it sounded to me like they are trying to do a really good job with the
video games in order to win back customers which they lost during
their warehouse switch (which lead to so many bad experiences). also,
they have chaged their website so you are able to see where an item is
after it ships.

for those who go to Amazon or Best Buy, what do you do for the marc
records?
