Hi everyone. I'm new to the list, so I thought I'd take a brief moment
to introduce myself.
I'm Dave Carter, a librarian at the University of Michigan's Art,
Architecture & Engineering Library. We're starting up a computer &
video game collection/archive; this will be a 'usable' archive, where
students & researchers can come to the game room and use the games. We
plan to have everything from the early 80s consoles to the latest and
greatest. Things are moving fast, and details still remain to be
worked out, but we plan on doing a 'soft open' in August with a Grand
Opening later in the fall.
I've just started a new blog, where I hope to document what's going on
with our new collection, and also address the broader topic of video
games in research libraries. It's at
http://libgames.blogspot.com/
This list seems to be primarily oriented towards gaming in public
libraries, but I'm sure I'll learn a lot from you all, and hopefully
add to the discussion as well.
Thanks!
