Thank you for your support and participation in the 1st Surf Liberia
Contest! The local surfers loved it, the Robertsport community were
very proud to host the event, and we keep getting good feedback from
spectators, one of whom called the contest "the most fun I've had in
Liberia so far."
Thanks especially to the judges -- Andy, Matt, Marshall, John, Nate,
Sean and Stephanie -- for doing such a stand-up job. Thanks to
Marshall and Sergey for the umbrellas and the megaphone. Thanks to
Liberia Travel and Life Magazine for providing the prize money, the
surfers of BHP for the prize rashguards, and Nana's Lodge for the
tables and chairs, water, and for hiring young men from the community
to keep the beach clean. Thanks to Myles for taking photographs and
for giving Benjamin his board in the semifinals -- that was awesome.
Thanks to John who drove us over the sand to Shipwrecks, when we
probably wouldn't have made it on our own. The rest of you who took
photo and video: please feel free to share footage and shots with us!
We'd love to credit you and put them up on our website. A heartfelt
thanks to all of you who I'm not mentioning by name and who helped
make this such a success. Nate and I were pretty ragged that day, and
could not have done this without your support, solicitude and back-up.
We're super grateful.
Email me if you'd like your waves scores and I'll send them over. I've
also written up the judging and scoring on the RCW blog at
www.robertsportcommunityworks.blogspot.com, we'll be posting photos up
there as well...
Sorry this is a bit belated. Nate and I received a clean bill of
health from the doctor at ELWA, but are still getting our strength
back and laying very, very low.
