Do you see that?! Do you see what is at that report, you "Liberian Surfers"?

Can't anyone even pretend to foam at the mouth a little? This may be the best swell event that you get all year. In Dakar everyone is getting jumpy and scared. Some of our points might need jet ski assist.

Is there a single living one of you in Liberia who will go and challenge Cotton Trees at the peak of this swell?

Please, somebody, take pictures!

I was in Liberia last week and surf was pretty darn disappointing. Even Shipwrecks was mediocre.

Maybe I'm looking at this wrong, but back when I lived there a 5ft swell was nothing to get excited about.

I agree John, I checked every morning and it is just a choppy mess. A clean 5 feet at NeeGee has potential to be a barreling bone crusher. Let's hope for some off shore one of these days.

I just got home from Liberia and I must say that was the worst May I have ever experienced in Liberia, too much wind. April wasn’t much good either but like they say a bad day surfing is better than a good day in the office. John it was great to see ya out there.

Good to see you too Kent. It really was a bummer to fly all that way out there for 2 weeks just for blown out mush. But, it's still better than the total and complete lack of ocean in Colorado.

Yeah, I think South Swells are just late to arrive. Dakar's south swell season is the same as Liberia's and we had a lousy April/May (after a superior March).

but the swell coming up next week--while it may be 5-7 feet--has such a massive period (reaching 20 seconds) that I'm guessing it'll actually max out Cottons and do that wide-swinging 14 wave set of crazy rollers thing . . . which is awesome!

Cramer, can you hit it?

Cleared my schedule for Thursday, looks like that is when it looks best. Hoping to make a day trip out of it.

No, I see what Nate’s talking about, took me a minute– a week from today 5.5 at 17 sec.  Magic seaweed sucks for wave size.  It only reads 3 ft right now and buoy weather is at 7.  This will probably read at least 6.5, probably 7 on Buoyweather by next Wed. or Thurs. if not more.  And it’s quality long period.
