Subject: noisy routers
Hi ppl, what are the least noisy routers, does it have to be a Porter
Cable.like the 7518.I have three routers all capable of cutting very
well with 1/2" cutters I slow them down as much as pos.to cut the
noise,(neighbors) but have to increase with the density of certain
woods, and the whine is very bad, just asking I'm not getting rid of
mine,too expensive,  MAC.

I have a crazy solution you might like to try a friend of mine had a similar
problem with a compressor and spray painting (A bitching neighbour ) his
solution was to line all his shed walls with old egg cartons the pointed
surface diffused the noise so he says. they stopped complaining so  guess it
worked.
50 % of the noise I think is from the cutter more than the router it self
but that just my opinion.
my router is a triton they are the best here in Aus I think and I see them
on the magnate site now as well. I really like them but they don't seem to
be any quieter or louder than any other router to me.

I don't know about using egg cartons, but there are foam company's that sell
material that is made for sound proofing .
http://www.fomofoam.com/Soundproofing.htm is one site, but there are more on
the web.

Good night.
