I'm sure someone will pipe up with more information if I'm wrong, but the big mapping project is called Open StreetMap; I'd take a guess and say we were talking about that  -it's like an open source mashup between google maps and wikipedia

As Dan has already said, the project is OpenStreetMap - interesting
things are happening in that project at the moment as they're in the
final stages of a license change which will hopefully make the data
produced by OSM easier to integrate with other projects without
licensing issues.

I'm hoping to run an intro to OSM day at some point, so if you're back
in Leeds you could attend that, if not then OSM Mapping Parties happen
all over the planet and you might be able to find one local to you -

I'm pretty well, I live in Leeds, and spent time to do some projects in graphic design.
I will come to see you at some point, for the moment, I am going in france for holidays,
