I am pleased to announce that we have a day at OBH on Saturday October
10th.
- Free run of downstairs (the main area, the classroom and the board
room)
- 50 person capacity
- 9am to 5pm

I want to open this event up to prospective members and other
enthusiasts, not just people who read this mailing list.

A few ideas I have:
- 2 hours in the morning for lighting talks on robotics/arduino,
programming, other hackery topics
- a designated Corner Of Junk where people can bring in old toys,
computers etc. and take 'em to pieces
- all-day freeform arduino workshop in the classroom
- invite the local media along to get some promotion :)

What do you think we should get up to?

[snip]

It clashes with PHP NW 2009 I'm afraid so I wont be there. Also can I
suggest
you consider other kinds of embedded dev apart from Arduino. How
about
describing it as "Micro-controller hackery including AVR (Arduino) and
others."
I for one do little Arduino hackery (although I own a boArduino) but
do use
AVRs and other controllers.

counterstrike! ;-)

actually i'd be happy to help/oversee a box of interesting bits and
have a show/tell/deconstruct drop-in workshop where we break er i mean
dismantle things to see what goodies they've got inside. would aim to
end the day with a giant/small-ish robot that 1)lights up in some way
2)waves a limb of some sort 3)makes a noise
