Help Reforest Costa Rica
Since we opened in January2007, we have met many people that have asked how they could participate in reforestation. Some of them decided to buy property in Costa Rica, some purchased trees as an investment and some just wanted to be part of the solution-just do something -to neutralize their carbon footprint.
Keep reading and find out how..................
Golden Toad Memorial or Gift Packages The Golden Toad was declared extinct in 1989.
It was last seen in the cloud forests of Monteverde, Costa Rica. Its extinction is cited as part of the decline in amphibian populations and attributed to climate change due to global warming.
Memorial gift packages include Certificate of Nurture and location of trees. Yearly photographic update is an additional $100 for 5 years.
The average North American produces over 22 metric tons (24.25 US short tons) of Carbon Dioxide (CO2) each year just living a normal life; driving their car, running their home air conditioning or heater, using their frequent flyer miles or just sitting and watching television. Most forms of energy we use produce CO2 gas, the culprit that is contributing to global warming. This chart shows in TONS the production of CO2 by country per person.
It takes the work of 100 trees to off set the pollution of one average North American.
Our reforestation program provides funding for visionary individuals in the San Carlos area of Costa Rica that are buying land for reforestation. Be part of the vision, be part of the solution. Read about our project on EcoWorld
Plant trees as a gift, memorial, as a family, church, company or school project.
Come to Costa Rica and visit your trees, see the project in progress, be part of something BIG!
Kapok Package Includes one night and one Tour $500 The Kapok tree is widely spread around the world and occupies an important niche in the ecosystem of a rainforest. The Kapok trees rise above the canopy of the rainforest and provide a home for plants dependent on sunlight. Their branches provide a habitat for countless epiphytes, which provide food and shelter for many types or animals that live high in the forest canopy. Wide spreading branches of the Kapok allow animals to move around the rainforest without coming down to the ground. Biological + Diversity = Biodiversity. Biodiversity is the number of organisms in an ecosystem, region or environment. Careful planning during a reforestation project is essential in order to support healthy, natural ecosystems.

Almendro Package Includes Four nights and two Tours for Four $1500 The Almendro tree is the only nesting tree of the Great Green Macaw. Because of logging (humans), only 30 breeding pair of the brilliant Great Green Macaws remain in Costa Rica. Even in this conservation-conscious country, the government has been unable to prevent the powerful logging industry from cutting down Almendro trees. At Leaves and Lizards we are planting around 1000 of these important trees. Learn about the MesoAmerican Biological Corridor.
