Reposting Sarah's email to the main LR announce list as well! Looks like some cool stuff going on in the UK around paradata and sharing! Please re-share her announcement widely.

Dear colleagues,

I've already sent this to the LR Collaborate list, so apologies if you
get it twice (or more). And this is my second attempt here as I also
had the same problem as last time with bad links (from copying and
pasting from my University's Outlook, sorry!).

I'm delighted to announce that Mimas is offering two Developer
Challenges at Dev8D this year, with prizes. And one of them is for
developers in the UK working on applications and other implementations
around the Learning Registry!

I hope these may interest you or your colleagues so please forward
this on. Click this link above to see all Dev8D Developer Challenges:

We're offering:

The JLeRN Experiment Paradata Developers Challenge at Dev8D 2012
http://jlernexperiment.wordpress.com/the-jlern-experiment-paradata-challenge-2012/

Are you interested in capturing, sharing, mashing up or otherwise
using paradata, AKA data about the use of open educational resources?

Are you thinking about exploring where and how teachers and learners
are using resources, or sharing them via social media, or what they
are saying about the resources?

and:

The Jorum Developers' Challenge 2012 at Dev8D: Releasing Open
Educational Resources into the Wild
http://www.jorum.ac.uk/blog/post/25/the-jorum-developer-challenge-2012-at-dev8d-releasing-open-educational-resources-into-the-wild

Are you interested in exploring new ways to extract, share, visualise,
search, collate or mash up the thousands of open educational resources
available in Jorum?

Full details are available at these links.

Hope to see your brilliant ideas soon!

Best wishes

Sarah
