Greetings,

Dave Finke reported an issue with my LRSignature code… Here's the text Dave noted the issue:

So I've reviewed the 3 other Signature implementations that I know of…

[link] .NET implemention doesn't covert numbers, hence they will dropped in the BEncode step.

 Hi Everyone,
We are looking for help to address a problem we are having using the delete
operation. Our developer sent the feedback, below.
Can you confirm the delete operation is currently supported on the
registry?
We want to entirely delete a set of paradata records. We will then be
adding new records of aggregated and enriched data.

I was wondering
if someone might explain why I might do that? Is the node I set up like a
"mirror"? Or like a separate database with my own content share?

There was talk a few months ago about someone putting all of the Khan Academy resources into the LR, in LRMI no less, including the CCSS alignments. I think i even heard rumor that someone (Jim Klo, maybe?) already had it in place on their dev node. Is this true? If so, can we get these records up on a public node so others can make use of them? Would be greatly appreciated by a few edu systems we work with.

 Hi guys,
We are writing code in preparation for publishing to the Learning Registry. This is how we're thinking of populating the publisher, creator, submitter, and signer fields. Publisher and Creator are part of the nsdl_dc schema, which we will be using for publishing. The other fields are part of the LR document.

I'm doing some more testing of our Learning Registry Import, and have come across several documents with a payload_schema value of "DC 1.1". The "DC" part makes me think it's supposed to be some sort of Dublin Core Schema, but the syntax doesn't look like Dublin Core at all. Here's a sample document, extracted from the Learning Registry. It's from adlnet.gov. Does anyone know what schema this really is and where I can find a definition of it?

signing on LR node01

Yesterday I noticed that some of the paradata records being published to LR node01 by Brokers of Expertise were showing up with submitter of j...@navigationnorth.com, rather than Brokers of Expertise (example: [link]). We haven't changed how Brokers publishes, other than setting up a Persona account and going through the steps on the node. I'm almost positive I did the same steps on sandbox as I did on node01, yet my records are correct on sandbox (signed by the Brokers app, not the node) and not on node01. I tried to compare the 2 oauth-key setups for my account but this page does not load: [link]

Slice's future?

 Hey,

I talked with some developers at Follett about their use of LR recently and
one thing they noted was that they made use of slice to pull things from
the system (rather than build a data service). This makes sense since slice
is so easy. My question to the folks on this list is whether we should fix

 Greetings,

In an effort to track down some issues with publishing on sandbox, I've purged existing records and rebuilt the config and relaunched.

Sandbox now appears to be behaving; It seems there must have been some dependency that was incorrectly installed as the rebuilding the virtualenv and reconfig seems to have resolved issues that were discovered and reported.

I was going through setting up authentication on the sandbox and production node(s) this morning so that I can be sure to have everything in place for some new publish requests coming down the pipe. It looks like the public nodes that are running may have changed. Can someone verify which nodes are still running and will be supported for the next few months? This document is supposed to list them but is probably outdated: [link]

How many documents are there REALLY in the Learning Registry?

I've pulled data with dates from 10/26/2011 thru 11/7/2011 (a period of about two weeks) from the LR for importing into our SQL database using the Basic Harvest. I'm doing it in date order to get as much info as I can. However, for this approximately two week period, I've received nearly 400,000 records from the Learning Registry. [link] reports there are 437,094 documents in the learning registry. I'm expecting that the amount of data submitted each week remains fairly high for a period of at least a few weeks (or months) beyond what I've already pulled. If my assumption is correct, there are a lot more documents in the LR than are being reported by status.

I'm working with Smithsonian Education (SCEMS) to re-publish their resources via Brokers of Expertise. I'm also going to be publishing about 1000 new resources from the National Museum of American History (NMAH). The signature we've used in the past from SCEMS lists signer information as "Smithsonian Education <learn...@si.edu>" -- setup by Ashley last fall. In order to avoid setting up another key, both SCEMS and NMAH would like to do their publishing under this key, but list the signer as simply "Smithsonian <learn...@si.edu>" in the new records. Although this doesn't sound like a big deal, my guess is that this will break validation rules in the future so they'll probably have to create a new key with this ID. The LR documentation talks about validating a signature, but doesn't get specific on matching the signer in the JSON with what PGP returns upon signature verification. Hi Scott,

Good use case.

You're correct in that the growth rate is not insignificant, but I'm not sure I totally agree with the math. I think it's on the right track; FWIW, all apps should be considered and I'd argue that you're missing a multiplier for the average number of paradata per app (there's no need to publish paradata for objects without change) which would most likely greatly decrease the rate for the average use case and in some rare cases increase the rate.

 Greetings,

Due to some recent changes by Google, the AMPS Chrome Extension requires some significant refactoring to make it function and install with current versions of the Chrome browser. At this point in time I am in the process of migrating services from the node that provided backend services for much of the functionality. Due to the nature of the AMPS refactor, at this time, I will not be migrating these additional services to the new location and it will be taken offline soon.

 Hi all,

I've encountered my first "comm_para 1.0" paradata item. A Google search
doesn't seem to be fruitful in producing a human-readable definition of this
schema so that I know what I'm looking at. I don't want to miss anything on
my import that we need, so. Can anyone point me to a document that will

I've got a question for folks regarding expressing ratings data for Achieve OER Rubric I in LR Paradata.

Consider the following example:
EducatorA rated ResourceM ([link]) using Achieve OER Rubric I (Degree of Alignment to Standards) as a Strong (2) for alignment to Common Core Math A-SSE:1 ([link]).

Standards Browser with Aligned Resources

Navigation North is pleased to announce the release of another open source project aimed at better exposing the wealth of resources available in the Learning Registry. Over the last few months we've been playing with Node.js as a means of creating a simple front-end to academic standards data. Using the JSON provided by Jes & Co, we were able to develop a very lightweight app that can import standards data directly and then give the users a simple tree view of different standards sets. With some additional funding from the US Department of Education we were then able to improve upon the initial app and add links to resources aligned to standards as shown by metadata and paradata in an LR node. This is all thanks to the great work Jim Klo and the dev team have done on the data services.

 Hello all,
It's been quiet but behind the scenes, there's been activity on LR.

Unfortunately, Lou has had to abandon his efforts to use Internet
Archive as storage for LR data after getting close at PlugFest but then
having intermittent errors in mounting, and then finding that the
Navitas tool forutilizing an s3 bucket for couchdb storage wasn't tested

 Hey guys,

It was good to meet you all at Plugfest 3. I've come back with a better
understanding of the LR, but now I have yet another question.

The metadata I've seen in the LR so far has all had a payload_placement of
inline. I know there are three possible values, inline, linked, and
