Introductions

I am an Academic Area Coordinator for the Center for Distance Learning
of Empire State College, one of many comprehensive state colleges that
are part of the State University of New York (US) system. The Center
for Distance Learning serves thousands of students in New York State
and around the world with high quality online courses leading to
college degrees. I am one of several CDL professors that is
interested in the contributions we might make to the OER movement. I
intend to use most of this week to try to master this process...but I
may need all the help I can get because in spite of nearly seven years
of online course development experience, I still feel awkward with new
technologies. I look forward to meeting everyone and learning from
each and every one of you.

I am a librarian and TEFL certified,(between jobs). I am interested in distance education. I tried a pilot program with some English as a second language learners last summer using English For All, but it was unsuccessful because not enough scaffolding was done to prepare the students for the online experience.
