Day 6 (November 2nd, 2009)

Hi Everyone,

WE trust you had a great weekend. From experience we know some of you have made good use of the weekend to catch up on some of the tutorials. Well done -- we know how hard it can be to find a little time during a normal working day.

These are the Instructions for Day 6 of our workshop. You will learn about adding images to your pages in WikiEducator. The Mediawiki software gives users many options to manipulate the size, placement and captions -- with the use of wiki syntax. We will show you how to do this in today's tutorial.

Instructions

  1. Work through Tutorial 6 on Images and Media.
  2. Practice manipulating the placement, size and using captions for your images in your sandbox.
  3. Work on improving your User page -- don't forget to include a photograph of yourself using your new learned skills on how to insert images!
  4. Today, you should also spend a little time refining the text and layout of your User page. Be sure to include the layout features you have learned so far; that is bold, italics, headings, lists, internal and external links using pipes.

Let's see who will develop the best User page over today and tomorrow. Perhaps one of the participants in this group will become a future recipient of the WikiEducator User Page Expo.

We will also take a look at each user page and see who qualifies for certification of our Wikimaster typology <smile>.

We are also proud to see that you are doing an excellent job on the various Wiki Discussions we set up for the workshop.  WE commend you for your interest and involvement in developing high quality open educational resources in collaboration with educators around the world. Thank you!

Have a wonderful week!
