Hello everyone

My name is Sarah Stewart and I will be working 0.5 in 2010 at Otago Polytechnic, Dunedin, New Zealand as an educational developer and facilitator. I am also be setting up a consultancy business aiming to help people in organisations and companies to think about how they can use social media and eLearning to improve communication and collaboration amongst their staff. I am a midwife and midwifery educator so my focus tends to be health.

I used Wikieducator to develop resources for a research project I have been part of this year - Second Life Education New Zealand: http://wikieducator.org/The_virtual_birthing_unit_project
So I feel comfortable with very basic wiki skills. So my aim for the course is to grow my skills so I do things like add media, develop brochures and ultimately be cofident enough to edit wikipedia.

Look forward to meeting everyone, best wishers, Sarah

Welcome to WikiEducator Jap,

You are a wonderful example of how one could make use of what WikiEducator has to offer. Create a project page, once you are ready to go and teach from WikiEducator directly is definitely the way to do this. You can always use integrated technologies to do what you need, bringing in additional knowledge to enhance your training, but all should be led back to WE.
Nice to see you here.
Warm wishes,
Patricia

Hi, everybody. My name is Phil and I am a recovering copyright holder.
I have taken the tutorials several times because I am a slow learner.
The only way I can learn it is to take a small step at a time. In my
retirement, this is a marvelous way to stay involved and productive.
Every time i learn something new I try it out an as many ways as I can
think; by involving myself I learn better. Come visit my home page and
share comments with me.

Hello everyone,

I am currently "between jobs" - a year ago I resigned from my position
as a Vocational Education and Training (VET) Manager and have had this
year mostly as a recuperating/resting/learning year (although I have
been doing some consultancy as well). Next year it is back to full
time work - just have to find it :) Currently living a very short
walk from Bondi Beach in Sydney and am studying the Diploma in
Training and Assessment at Northern Sydney TAFE.

Have set up a wiki before as part of my course. This can be viewed
here http://trainingmethods.wikispaces.com/
And I am reasonably active in contributing to this group blog site
Train Teach Assess http://trainteachassess.wordpress.com/

Found out about this course and WikiEducator because I follow Sarah
Stewart's very interesting blog and she mentioned that she was doing
this course - Hi Sarah!

I am hoping to get more knowledge and skills about how wiki's can be
used for educational collaboration and learning (secretly, I would
like to see a wiki textbook on Adult Education and Training - 80 AUD
plus for textbook is outrageous and not everybody can afford it!)

What am I planning to do with this new knowledge? Maybe start an
Adult Education and Training Wiki ;) Also want to use wikis in my
facilitating (especially when it is online).

Looking forward to having FUN with you all,
Sandy

Hello,

I am Bernice, sorry I did not reply earlier. I am a native of Guyana, a country  which is located on the north coast of South America. I am presently working as a  teacher in Castries Comprehensive Secondary School St Lucia West Indies. My area of specialization  is business education ( Accounting, Office Administration and Principles of Business) however my high school life was centered around the sciences.

On surfing the internet I discovered Wiki  and my belief is the site has much to offer any teacher who loves to keep up  with changes.I see Wiki as a forum to empower and develop healthy interaction among teachers.

I'm Neli, from Brazil. I'm doctoral student in Sao Paulo Pontifical Catholic University (PUC-SP). I have functioned as facilitator in the process of integrating educational technology in training courses to prepare School Managers to be able to use information and communication technology as part of the Technologies and School Management Project. In this project she worked as an educational designer, and developer and administrator of e-learning communities. My current research projects include development of educational curriculum and design of educational communities of practice (CoP), and the study of collaborative learning environments, interfaces for interaction, and social media.

My name is Candia Alleyne. I am working in Grenada as a consultant
with the T.A. Marryshow Community College, and in the Caribbean with
the Caribbean Knowledge and Learning Network. I coordinate a
programme to support the development of ELearning in Caribbean
Tertiary institutions. It is in the process of implementing this
programme, while visiting the Commonwealth of Learning with a small
group from T.A. Marryshow Community College that I experienced the
passion of Wayne for OER and participated in a wikieducator workshop
faciltated by him in London at PCF5. At the CKLN our work is aimed at
fostering collaboration among tertiary institutions in the development
of courses and programmes.
I have registered for these workshops many times as both Patricia and
Wayne will know. But was unable to make the time to participate. One
of the problems is that I am not teaching staff, so deciding on a
course to develop was a challenge. My teaching experience following
graduation with a B.Sc. from UWI is in Chemistry, Biology and
Agricultural Science. I still have a passion for science as a whole.
My M.Sc. was in Food Science - Human Nutrition, with a focus on
malnutrition in infants.
So this time, I am determined to complete this course to better
facilitate the development of ELearning in the Caribbean. I believe
in the concept of OER, and thanks Wayne and Patricia for your
commitment.

Best wishes to all colleagues in this course

Dear Candia,

We feel very privileged to have you with us, Candia and are happy that despite your busy schedule you keep coming back to take up this learning opportunity, if time commitment prevented you from doing this earlier.

I am really glad you had an opportunity to experience a first taster of WikiEducator in a live session facilitated by Wayne himself during PCF5 in London (Dr. Wayne Mackintosh is the founder of WikiEducator). It is too bad that we didn't have a chance to meet in London where we were holding three parallel sessions facilitated by Wayne, Susan Dark from NZ and myself and I missed you again when you were at COL.

Welcome aboard, Candia. Feel free to ask any questions. Robert Kruhlak who is the lead facilitator of this workshop, Gladys Gahona from Mexico who has come on board last year November, Sanjay Pandagale from India who has been a wonderful WikiEducator advocate and myself will do our best to make this an inspiring learning opportunity.

Warm wishes,
Patricia

Hi Candia,

This what makes this experience so very interesting, the broad spectrum of experiences and bottomline knowledge has always made the workshop very enjoyable, because everybody gets something out of it. However, it is up to the individual learner to go after it and make this suit their own needs. What I am trying to say is, make this so it fits your own environment which you could translate into the learning contract (one free lesson, study guide, teacher handout a.o in exchange for the free training).

with the pedagogical issues related with teaching of the different
disciplines related with social sciences. In order to spread the true
feeling of global citizen, right approaches need to be evolved and
implemented on the ground level. The absence of this might be
responsible for carrying low perception about social sciences.During

I teach ICT courses and develop online content for students who use
our KEWL platform.
KEWL stand for Knowledge Enhanced Web-based Learning, http://www.elearn.ucc.co.tz/.

Recently we launched a campaign to promote the use of FLOSS products
in our region.
We started by hosting Advanced FOSS Business Model (ToT) which will
be followed by
national regional trainings year 2010. Mr. Arnold Pietersen, being
one of facilitators in ToT
intruduced the wikieducator and later briefed on this eL4C32 in the
mailing list. This training will supplement the
knowledge i have and will use the same to drive more people/
organizations in e-learning and FLOSS products. I believe
open concept is most viable and will promote development and
especially in Africa.

seems to require a different skill set than face to face teaching and
more preparation. Here is Brazil, I do not have access to a high-end

Hi Mary,
Glad you made it, Welcome to WikiEducator. I hope you will find this
workshop inspiring. You are saying that you do not have high-end
computer or fasst internet connection. WikiEducator has a feature called
Wiki to PDF which allows you to select any content, compile it into a
book for offline teaching, which might be helpful when it gets tougher
to use the internet.

Looking forward to your contributions
