Replying to an email from list saying you don't want to be on it does
not get you off the list. It just lets the entire list know you don't
want to be on it, and generally the people on the list do not have the
power to remove you from the list.
Here is how to remove yourself from a Google Group.
1) Go to http://groups.google.com/ 2) If you're not already signed in, sign in
3) You should see all the groups you are subscribed to
4) Under the groups are a couple of links, the first one should be
"Manage my memberships"
5) Click on "Manage my memberships"
6) You'll got to a page with a list of all the groups you are a member
of, your nickname on that group, your email for that group, and the
type of subsciption
7) To unsubscribe, click on the drop down menu for the group you want
to unsubscribe to under the "Subscription Type" column (it's all the
way on the right)
8) The bottom option should be "Unsubscribe;" select it
9) Repeat for any other groups you want to unsubscribe
10) Click on the "Save group settings" button at the bottom right of the page
