"Challenges disrupt our cherished paradigms and opinions, causing
us to . . . let in new thoughts, ideas, perceptions and points of
view."

Stop complaining about the challenges you face as a leader.
Think about it. If there were no challenges you would not be
needed. Everything would be working well without you. Everyone
would stay on track without guidance. The entire team, department
or company you lead would develop shared vision, group values and
common practices without any nudging or direction.
The best solutions to challenges always bring a new perspective
forward. The best solutions to difficult challenges always
demonstrate respect for the individuals involved - even if they
have done something wrong or have a point of view that is not
supportable.
So don't get angry when challenges show up. Don't see challenges as
an indicator that you are not doing your job. Instead, realize that
because you are the leader it IS your job to take on challenges and
guide the team, department or organization toward a long-lasting
solution that works.
Remember: if the old way of doing things was working, this
challenge would probably not exist. So, be alert for what could be
done to tweak the existing practice or policy and subtly change it
into something people can easily implement and apply to the current
and future situations!
Great leaders know to focus on the desired outcome and to pay
attention along the way for new information or new inspiration.
Think . . . and act . . . like a leader!
