I had to image through holes in the clouds and fortunately some
appeared near the impact time, but I didn't notice any changes on the
monitor. Maybe after I examine the individual frames I'll see
something. Even the scientists on the NASA channel seemed surprised at
the lack of a visual plume.

I was imaging with a Celestron 9.25, 2x barlow, and an Imaging Source
camera.

CS,
Bill Clugston

Bill,

It was a big bust for all of us, but fun anyway. I was using a Celestron
1100 and 2X barlow, with clear skies in central Arizona and a newspaper
reporter hovering over my shoulder.
He was a bit disappointed but the story will now be about amateur astronomy
so it's all good.

Only NASA saw the collision? Any other observation/evidence from ground
based observatory or amateurs?

Here is my sketch of the south polar area, observing notes and musings. :-)  I really enjoyed following the mission, the comments on this google group, and the excitement in the amateur and education communities. :-) Great outreach program!  Jane
