Summer tournaments

Howdy, folks --

There are a number of near-by Ultimate tournaments to which we've taken teams in the past few years.  These tournaments fill up quickly, so I need to put in bids as soon as possible.  While I realize that it can be difficult to make summer commitments in early May, it's pretty much necessary in order to secure tournament bids.

Not to put too fine a point on it: if we don't get a core of people committing to these tournaments in the next few weeks, we won't play in them.

Here is the tentative schedule:

• 22-23 June - Wisconsin Swiss - Madison, WI - Mixed (bid secured)
  
  
• 29-30 June - MS Open - Austin, MN - Mixed & Open (bid invitation extended by TD, but won't accept until we get numbers)
  
  
• 3-4 August - Mad-Disc-On - Madison, WI - Mixed (bid window not open, but we'll get in because the TD loves me)
  
  
• 17-18 August - Cooler Classic - Delafield, WI - Mixed & Open (bid pending)

My preference is to go to these tournaments with a Mixed team, but I'm happy to put together Open teams for the MS Open and Cooler.

So here's the deal.  Email me (not the list, but I guess it's okay if you do) if you can commit to any of these tournaments.

If you are a woman, it is very important that you do this regarding the MS Open and Cooler.  If we don't get good female commitment for these two tournaments, I'll focus on putting together a Men's team for them.

If you have questions, please do not hesitate to let me know!

We've had a pretty good response concerning the four tournaments we're looking at attending.  Here is what our numbers look like so far:

WiscoSwiss --> 8 men / 6 women

MS Open --> 7 men / 4 women

Mad-Disc-On --> 9 men / 3 women

Cooler --> 9 men / 3 women

My hope is that, as the tournaments draw nearer, we'll bolster our numbers.  That said, if you haven't responded, please do so, especially if you are a woman.  (Doubly so if you are a current or former Galaxy player.)

Right now, figuring out if we're going to do the MS Open as a co-ed or men's team is the top priority.

Second priority is figuring out if we're going to do Cooler as a co-ed or men's team.

While we have invitations to both of these tournaments, I will not confirm them until we get a few more women.  (And if we don't get the female commitment, I will switch the bid to open.  So ladies, if you want to play MS Open or Cooler, do recruit your fellow XXers.)

So, please let me know your status.  If you are curious about rosters, see if this google doc will open for you.

Sam, I know I was supposed to e-mail you about this last week but I can't make WiscoSwiss and MS Open is not looking good.  I will definitely make Cooler and can make Mad-Disc-On if we have a team going.
