LAUN-CHair Event Details

 

Intent:

Temporal exploraration of temporary exterior furniture.  Cardboard furniture to be designed and constructed on the patio of a location to be revealed closer to the event date.  Pieces will be critiqued according to a surprise sety of criteria to be revealed to the particpants at the beginning of the event.  This could be a theme, an overall idea or a surprise material.

Designers and other people.

Schedule:

    Buckeye Beer Engine 15315 Madison Ave, Lakewood, Ohio post 5pm - carousing of a hilarious nature?

Constructs:

 - Materials-

     Teams will be provided some cardboard and maybe some duct tape.  Participants may bring some cardboard if they can, extra tape and any cutting implement (within reason) that they will need to construct their furniture.  You best be reading and understanding all use instructions regarding your cutting apparati otherwise you will have to go get some rounded edge safety scissors.

 

 - Teams -

     Teams are acceptable but must be limited to 2 people.  Teams must also dress in an appropiate manner so as to be distinguished as a team.

 

- Basic Criteria -

  • Design must be able to support your weight off of the ground, completely.
  • Chair must be constructed primarily of cardboard
  • Chair must be constructed on site during the date and time of the event.

 There will be some surprise criteria sprund during the beginning of the event to keep things interesting.

 

PLEASE TELL US IF YOU PLAN TO ATTEND SO THAT WE CAN GUESS HOW MUCH CARDBOARD TO BRING (my car is not really THAT big!)

Well, the LAUN-CHair event was a success. People showed up, which was
pretty nice. We had about an even dozen particpants split into 7
teams. Happily there were a variety of solutions from the 'bar stool'
to an entire patio arrangement.
