Werner I hate the Google groups web interface , For one list only no
problem. For someone who participates in more than 2 lists is completely
improductive. Is it possible to have the group added to Gmane news server ?
With Gmane we can have the list both in Gmane and Google and we can use a
regular email client as Thunderbird to use the list. I don't see any
problem on this besides the list get public viewed which for some other
groups which I participate didn't like the idea very much but if don't have
anything against it, Which I presume to be the case here, there are only
advantages. Check for yourself:

Fill in the form here:
* http://gmane.org/subscribe.php
In the "Mailing list software" drop down menu, choose "google".
After you have pressed "Subscribe this mailing list" at the bottom of
the page, sit back and wait for a couple of days, perhaps a month.

You would not be the only one. I abhor web-based interfaces to email.

But you can do that with Gmail as well. Or is it just the list that you
want via Thunderbird, and not the rest of your Gmail?

Doesn't Google Groups have a subscription option like Yahoo Groups has, to
let you have list mail delivered by regular email?

As far as I can tell, you'll have to switch to the "desktop" version of
your mobile browser in order to maintain the functionality associated with
managing/administering your group. Scroll all the way to the bottom of the
windows, and click the "Desktop" hyperlink.
