Work Share Positions At Casey Farm

Work share positions at Casey Farm are open for our 2013 CSA season. Our farm is located in Saunderstown, Rhode Island. Work shares receive a share portion of vegetables from our CSA in exchange for work throughout the 20 week season. We are currently seeking work shares for Tuesday and Friday mornings to wash vegetables from 10am to 2pm. We are also looking for work shares to join our Saturday work crew starting at 8am. Applicants must be able to lift 50 lbs and be comfortable working outside in all weather conditions. I am interested in the work share positions available at Casey Farm this coming season, which I heard about through the LandJobsStuff google group.  I have experience volunteering and apprenticing on farms, and participating in CSAs throughout New England and in other parts of the country. 

 

I am interested in the Casey Farm work share program this coming season because I want to have the satisfaction of physical labor on a farm in Rhode Island and have that small connection to the land and my food production process.  I would also be excited to have access to fresh, local produce throughout the season that I might not otherwise choose to buy.  I am interested in the history of Casey Farm, and to see how current land use and practices relate the past.  Most farms I've worked at before have been quite recent developments.

 

Working on a historic farm on Aquidneck Island would be an interesting and unique opportunity and I would like to have that experience through a Casey Farm workshare.  I would be most easily available on Fridays but could potentially be available on Tuesdays as well.
