Hi,

Has anyone heard any news on the state of http://austin1800.homestead.com/
or know who the webmaster is/was?
It's been dead quite awhile, now... last updated: January 10, 2008

I don't believe there's been any further movement in trying to bring
back the 1800 web site. Seven weeks since I made the effort to phone the
United States and contact the web hosting company and we are still
waiting on one particular LOCA committee member to supply some basic
documentation for the hosting company so the club can gain control of
the site. The disappointment is starting to set in.

However you've just provided another option now as it appears the web
archive site you've found has an almost complete (missing many photos)
copy of the site.
If someone had the time & knowledge it may be quicker to copy the site
to another host and just build it up as a new web site. If anything this
is kind of like a miracle 2nd chance opportunity for saving the site, I
don't think we're going to get too many breaks like this one.

If LOCA is still interested in having a web site this would be the last
chance to find an enthusiastic webmaster amongst its members and
incorporate the old site information as part of a new site.

If LOCA isn't interested maybe someone else can step in and recreate the
site as a personal site, at least saving all the technical information.

I'd offer but I'm already burning the candle at both ends with my work.

I have taken this opportunity to download most of the old site for safe
keeping but I just wont have time to do anything with it till next year.

No Matter what happens, I think as a mark of respect, any new site based
on the old site should have some sort of dedication to the old webmaster
as we don't know what happened to him.

Cheers,
Eriks
