Hi All

My Mk2 came without a wiper switch, and through Patrick I have
purchased a 2 speed switch from a Tasman/Kimberly. The only problem is
that the wiring diagrams in all 4 manuals I have list the wires to the
switch as Blue/Light-green, Brown/Light-green, Red/Light-green and
Black. The wires sticking out of the hole in the dash (where the
switch is supposed to go) are Blue(might be black)/Light-green, Green/
Yellow and Black. The back of the switch has 4 connectors labelled 1,
2, 4, & 5

Now, the $64,000.00 question is... Knowing that I have a one speed
wiper motor, where must I put which coloured wires to get it to work?
Just back and forth, nothing fancy.

Cheers

G'day Peter
The switch is from a Mark 2 UK 1800 not a Kimberley,if you still have
the old switch the wires just connect to the same terminals.

Hi Patrick

Unfortunately, the wiper switch was the only thing missing! Iguess I
misunderstood when you said I could get a 2 speed wiper motor from a
Kim/Tas, I just assumed that the switch was from one of them. I found
an article in the "Beyond the Workshop Manual" that I got when I first
joined the club that talks about installing a 2 speed motor, but it
doesn't have the info I need.

Anyone game to pull their Mk2 wiper switch out and let me know what
colours go where?

Cheers
Pete

Hi Pete,

I went through a similar exercise on another car years ago trying to
work out how to wire up a Lucas two speed wiper motor.

The way to do it is first work out the wire connections on the wiper
motor, if you know its a Kimberley wiper you could try the wiring
diagram from a workshop manual. Failing that a multimeter and car
battery and a bit of trial and error. If it's a typical Lucas motor the
most confusing part will be the auto park wire.

Once you know what each wire on the motor is used for, then sit down
with the switch and a multimeter and work out the how the contacts are
switched, or see if you can work it out form the corresponding wiring
diagram in the workshop manual.

Don't be surprised if trying to follow the lines in the wiring diagram
takes you ages, they can get confusing at times even for someone who
studied electronics years ago.

Once you've worked out the connections on the motor and the switch the
wiring sequence should start to become obvious.

Here's a link to the wiper motor I wired up, as you have a proper wiper
switch the job should be a lot simpler than what I had to do here. But
you might still find parts of this article useful.
