Meet at 11.00hrs at beginning of public footpath on A572, 400m west of
junction with A573,
adjacent to a large pub carpark (SJ609963).
Highfield Moss SSSI is arguably the finest remaining example of a
lowland peat-bog in the region and is a proposed Wildlife Trust Nature
Reserve. Good chance of seeing large numbers of Black Darter and also
Common Hawker etc. High botanical interest includes Marsh Gentian in
its last vice-county locality.
Stout walking-boots or wellingtons desirable. Total walking distance
about 3km (2 miles)
