Weekly Update October 29, 2009
Dear Friends of Reading to Kids,
You were up for the challenge! When an anonymous donor issued a challenge to raise $500 dollars in 3 days for the Annual Fund Drive, you did it. In fact, you surpassed it. A total of $1,225 was raised, and our anonymous donor donated an additional $500 to the drive!
The 2009 Annual Fund Drive has currently raised almost $16,000 through your donations, fundraising efforts, and enthusiasm for the reading clubs. But we are still well short of our goal. There are still two more weeks to encourage your friends and family to make their donations. And of course, to make yours too!
Be Inspired. Donate. Learn how here.

November 14th College Spirit Day Reading Clubs
It is going to be a close competition this year. University clubs and alumni groups have been signing up in record numbers for this November's College Spirit Day Reading Clubs!
While you and the kids are enjoying great books such as "Ish" and "Skippyjon Jones," parents will be learning about preparing themselves and their children for college. Speakers will include administrators from local universities. We are still looking for a few speakers to present at the Parent Workshop. If you know of anyone who may be interested, please contact Rachel Zwass at Rachel.Zwass @ readingtokids.org.
We still need 399 spirited readers, so be sure to SIGN UP today!

Barnes & Noble Encino Holiday Book Drive
'Tis the Season to shop at Barnes & Noble Encino! Every year the bookseller holds a successful book drive for Reading to Kids, and this year is no exception. Customers are encouraged to buy children's books which are then donated to us as prize books for our kids. Last year the store donated 2,575 books to Reading to Kids!
There is no better gift than that, and we are so thankful to Kristine Williams and her team for keeping up with this wonderful holiday tradition.
