Breitenbush Hot Springs Retreat Center-  Detroit, Oregon January 10-15, 2010 CONTACT EXCHANGE w/ Performance Focus Facilitated by TouchMonkey, Carolyn Stuart and Patrick Gracewood Why perform?  Why not perform? What is performance?  What is not performance? Come dive into the what/when/where/who/why/how of it!! For 5 days Carolyn and Patrick will facilitate and participate in an investigation of performance and contact improvising . They've been exploring this subject for over 20 years, fascinated with the unfolding, ever revealing experience of making dance. To support the process of inquiry, discovery and presentation they propose the following  daily schedule- 9-11 authentic movement warm-up 11-1 inquiry and research 3-6   inquiry and research 8-9   presentation 9-10 debrief All levels are welcome. This is an opportunity for, both, those with experience and those beginning, to explore their relationship to 'performance'- seeing and being seen, experiencing and sharing.....  Each begins from where they are. We do our own research and we exchange with each other.  The content of the event will be determined by the curiosity and expression of those present. What is it to explore? What is it to present? What is it to witness? This event is an ideal place to experiment, to develop and to share your dance. Use the next couple months to hone your curiosity. Then come enjoy the supportive cocoon of Breitenbush and the hot springs in the heart of winter to do your research. Exchange, cross-pollination is our evolution. By traveling to meet, dance and discover we weave a web that wraps the world in contact improvising......... ! We'll be 25 maximum, so registering early is a good idea. It is based in personal responsibility as a means to mutual well-being. Carolyn and Patrick call their thread of inquiry in the form the TouchMonkey perspective. They offer this deep wintertime to share their process of investigation and support others in claiming theirs. Come immerse in the art of contact and improvisation. Contact is belonging. With improvisation we practice being. Learn to let the dance of knowing and awareness guide your experience. This event will expand your ability to use touch and play to thrive.
