Hi,

We have 2 databases in our oraganizations, 8.0.5.1 & 9.2.0.6
respectively. When i use Lab128 for connecting oracle 8 database, it
is connecting but if i use 9i database then it is throwing error like

ORA-03115: unsupported network datatype or representation

For your information, i have 9i client installed in my PC. I have TNS
for both the databases. TOAD & PL/SQL developer.

I would appreciate if you can give sloution for the error reported
above.

Thanks,
Shyam.

Shyam,

Thank you for posting your message. Is possible that you have two Oracle
client installed? Can you check the log file in Lab128 directory for the
Oracle 8 database, it should be named <host_name>_<instance_name>.log. In
this file Lab128 logs version of Oracle client and server right after it
connects to the database.

Ora-03115 happens when running query with one or more columns with TIMESTAMP
data type. This type was introduced in Oracle 9, but if you use Client
version 8, it will complain with ora-3115. Can you check that? Then we will
find a workaround for that.

Thanks,
Sergei
