I hear that the mayor of Los Angeles is planning on shutting the
city down by 2014 due to pollution and that everybody will be required
to ride bicycles by law. Is this true?

Not knowing anything about it, I am willing to declare it untrue.
How could the city possibly function that way.

OTOH V-R is still mayor.......

You are absolutely correct. I know this because I am the mayor of Los Angeles.

On April 1, 2014, the entire city of Los Angeles will be leveled to the ground and turned into a giant state park. The residents of Los Angeles will be digitized and the contents of their brains will live on in a huge virtual world while their now unnecessary bodies will be shredded and turned into fish food. April 1st will be a city-wide holiday to forever be known as shred day. ID software will immortalize the event in a new third person game that will go on sale soon after.

Residents will be given 200 billion terabytes to build their own virtual homes. Additional space will cost 100 V-Credits per additional 100 billion terabytes. Family units will be able to combine their storage space.

It is expected that other cities will do the same by the year 2020. President Gingrinch says he will order such a measure. Those who object will be excommunicated from the Republican party.
