Sales of the states transit infrastructure would be enough to not only
balance the budget, but also ensure that the state has a surplus of nearly
$50 billion.
The governor is also considering a tax on walking. Pedestrians would be
required to wear a pedometer and pay a per mile tax. New pedometers will
come equipped with FastTrack technology, allowing autopay from checking and
credit accounts.
A Segway tax is also in the works, reported to be five to ten times the
pedestrian tax.
The state is soliciting bids from private companies who desire to purchase
local transit agencies. The amount generated from such sales could exceed
$100 billion.
