Why worry about Berlin?  I think that we should rename the city to
Washington!  That way all of the big American companies would invest
here.  And we'd get American tourists coming up here every day to
gawk at a town that looks "just like" an American town!  We already
have the flavour of an "authentic" American town will all of our
English street signs, theaters playing the latest Hollywood hits,
and guys with no shirts on driving around in big noisy trucks!

Won't work.  Our "theaters" are theatres.

Washington, Ontario already exists...it's about 10 or 15 kilometres
west of Kitch..uh, Berl..uh..wherever it is I live, west along
Waterloo 97/Oxford 8.  Not exactly a metropolis...but there is a white
house there.  I saw it.

Oh, Warrick, you take all the fun out of things. Speaking as an
expatriot American citizen exiled to this barbarian land because I'm
too lazy to go back, I think we should rename Kitchener to Detroit,
Ontario, and take advantage of all the automotive manufacturers who
movetheir plants here by accident.

Ummm... can we pick a prettier city? (:

How about San Francisco, Ontario? Think about it. Forget attracting
tourists, or business; I want better weather! Not only would we get
year-round warm weather, and clear, blue skies, but we'd also get an
ocean.

I suppose everything to the west of the new San Francisco could be
in a bit of trouble, but nothing's perfect.

Nahhh, George W(angersky), actually, we share a lot of consonants, but
unlike George Washington, I do not keep slaves, grow marajuana, or
wear stockings, high heels and a wig. Well, hardly ever. Only when
required by the script (damn those 19th-century playwrites).

Invoking Kubassek is reeeeally dangerous. Imagine the following:

There's someone in charge of phrasing the referendum question
who *really* want to keep the letter 'k' and ideally Kitchener. Thinking
themselves wiley, the ballot is like this:

        Kitchener
        Berlin
New Berlin (to split the Berlin vote)
Kubassek (because, like, no-one would be silly to vote
for her name).

Now, a lot of voters don't want to go through this again
so they don't vote Kitchener. Another bunch think either Kitchener
or the Berlins would lead to another referendum (All the Brits
snubbed by the change back, frex) and they haven't got the foggiest
idea who the hell Kubassek is because they don't read the Record.
The tally is:

        Kitchener: 20
        Berlin: 25
        New Berlin:25
        Kubassek: 35

With a first past the post system, Kubassek wins.

You don't have to read the Record to *know* Ms. Kubassek.  She's made a
public appearance at the Centre in the Square protesting some play.  She's
protested outside a gay bar on Charles Street.  She's shown up at public
pools where women *might* swim topless.  And, recently, she was at the pot
rally in Victoria Park preaching to those who clearly didn't want to hear her
message.

The only name worse then Kitchener is *Kubassek*.  Kitchener is named after
the inventor of the concentration camp.  *Kubassek* would be named after the
religiously challenged.  Who would that please?

She's an outside agitator (from Cambridge).

Cambridge is NOT on the *outside*.  A realistic amalgamation of this area
would put Cambridge into the *new* city.
