Tipjar LLC, recognized by the New York Times as the inventor of the
tip jar button, and now moved on into related endeavors, as that lunch
has long ago been eaten by bigger dogs, has continuing immediate
openings for software engineers willing to work without immediate pay.

Please contact me off-list to discuss a project assignment appropriate
to your current or desired skill set if you would enjoy playing
start-up company. Tipjar LLC recognizes that it is no position to
request substantial time or effort commitments. On the other hand,
involvement with Tipjar LLC at this time will have no detrimental
effect on the amount of your current unemployment check should you be
receiving one, and there is *unlimited potential upside*!

Can you please provide a citation from the New York Times (online edition is acceptable) where your company, Tipjar LLC, is recognized in that publication as "the inventor of the tip jar button."

I'd be really interested to see it.  I'm sure you'll garner more prospective employees from you audience if they could see the citation themselves (even without immediate pay!).

the links at http://tipjar.com/press.html might be somewhat moldy.

is valid

maybe it was USA Today that called me that. It was a long time ago.
Yes, it was, http://www.usatoday.com/tech/news/2002/01/08/usat-tipjar.htm
calls tipjar.com "the original tip site"

"Cyber ''tip jars,'' a way to collect small, often-impulsive
donations, have been around for a few years. (The original tip site,
tipjar.com, which is still in operation, was founded in 1996 by David
Nicol, now a 33-year old programmer at the University of
Missouri-Kansas City.)"

"Mr. Bezos was not the first to have this idea. At a site called
Tipjar.com, in operation for five years, you can pledge money to
anyone with an e-mail address. Unlike Amazon.com, which charges the
recipient a 15-cent transaction fee and then skims a 15 percent
commission from the total donation, Tipjar.com is a free service."

Wow, it looks like you really did get screwed. What happened? Do
these articles prove any kind of prior art? I'd think you deserve
some sort of compensation for your work. Here are 2 national
publications citing *you* as the originator of the idea that Amazon
took over.

Yeah, but if he had gotten what he deserved, he'd be lynched. :D
