Please people, just add at least some information about location, numbers of rooms and rent. Maybe there should be a sticky post with some rules about housing posts.

Also, wasn't there a general consensus on not allowing discriminating posts.. in this case, flat for "foreigners"
How did this make it past the moderator?

Yes, there is a general consensus that people are offended by it, but there is also a general consensus from the moderators that moderating it away from view doesn't do anything to stop "discriminating" thinking. Better this gets a public airing so any group member can respectfully air their own views on the matter.

I know this flat, as I live just a block away. The flat is located in Dhobighat, right next to the main dhara (where all the shops and Golden Ray School is) and the owner is very friendly (but his English is a bit lacking). I met this gentleman during the earthquake, as we all hang out near the school grounds whenever there is a big shake. I think he is asking 30K per month, which for this neighborhood is a good deal. There is room for bike parking and perhaps a car, but as it's a shared house - and he has one car - and a car would have to be negotiated. The flat would be perfect for a single or couple working at British School or some other place nearby. Hope this helps...

Huss to everything you said...I'm LOLing so hard, but yea, the flat for foreigner only spiel really gets old after you've been in KTM for awhile.  I have gone to see countless flats with ads that proclaim 16,000 or 20,000 monthly, but then when they see I'm a foreigner (even despite the fact that my wife is Nepali) the rent suddenly jumps to 25,000 or 35,000 Awesome, right?!  Not at all...

Apparently, the most important piece of information in that post was that THE SEMI FURNISHED FLAT IS FOR FOREIGNERS.

Not the location or the price, or what floor it's on; or the state of the house, how many rooms, if there's even a kitchen or a bathroom, internet connection/ cable tv, extra amenities et al. For all we know, semi-furnished means a wardrobe, and the flat could be in Timbuktu.

But then again, the OP is an engineer, so that makes everything okay I guess.
