Any Coconut oil available in Nepal?  Coconut oil is saturated fat, but it is a medium-chain fatty acid, which the body digests not as fat but as pure energy. Coconut oil will speed up your metabolism and also contains lauric acid, which is anti-bacterial, anti-viral, and anti-fungal. It also improves adrenal and thyroid health. Coconut oil is great for frying, as it supports high heat.

Thanks to a good lead I found the probiotics - will this post also help me find coconut oil? (they don’t have it in Bhatbhateni, only as a hair oil…)

Picked some up at the farmer's market two weeks ago. It's imported from India, organic, and delicious. It was solid when i bought it, but now it's completely liquid in this hot weather.

I get it from small grocery shops. It's imported from india.
The brand name is "Parachute", it comes in blue plastic jars and is cheap (95 nrs for a 200ml jar).
Not sure if it is of a quality as good as the coco oil you can find in Thailand, but personally I use it for cooking, for hair and skin, and even to protect wooden furniture.

The women from the Aurobindo ashram at the Saturday market sometimes have it or if they don't you can ask and they'll bring it the following week. The question about the blue bottle 'Parachute' brand is indeed quality....the best is cold-pressed, organic....Aurobindo's is at least organic if not cold-pressed, I asked but they didn't know.

Hi,

You can find coconut cooking oil in any Ramdev panchali shop. There is one at the NewRoad in front of Marwari clinic, Ranjan Galli, one at the Lazimpat, one at the Naxal, Gahanapokhari etc

This was a great tip.  We go to the farmer's market at 1905 often, but I am with my two little boys, so I know that I miss a lot as I'm watching them. :)  Sadly, the ladies said today that they are all out, and it will be a little while until they get more.  But, good to know of it as an option!
