Kathmandu, Tundikhel Ground
Saturday April 9, 2016, 4-6 pm
The Radiant Women Project is finally back, after a year of interruption due to the earthquakes that ravaged the country. After Nepalgunj, Dhangadi and Patan, the exhibition was supposed to head to Sindhupalchowk on the 26th of April 2015. Instead of having the photos and testimonies displayed throughout Nepal, Planète Enfants decided to concentrate its energy into supporting women and children who had lost everything to the tremors. It took time to find the right moment for the Radiant Women to do their comeback, and this is it, now, in Kathmandu.
Radiant Women Now is a spectacle designed to raise awareness against Human Trafficking, a concept event mixing the moving photography essay of Natalie de Oliveira and a show that will gather together artists from different fields.
Radiant Women Now is organised by Planète Enfants with the support of the Delegation of the European Union to Nepal. On Saturday 9th of April, from 4pm onwards, Radiant Women Now pitches its tent in Tundikhel for a two hour creative event that will delight the crowds. On one end of the perimeter the 47 exhibition panels welcome the audience, and on the other end, on stage, musicians play with their art in a concert sprinkled with a couple of the survivor testimonies collected by Natalie de Oliveira during the making of her essay. Theatrical and circus performances, and a live painting provide the link between the two ends of the perimeter.
It is a “no speech” show. The exhibition, the written and read testimonies of the Radiant Women, and the artists’ voices stand by themselves against Trafficking. Our amazing performers are already involved in their
own way against Human Trafficking and Violence against Women. Being part of the Radiant Women Now is a special occasion to stand altogether strongly and firmly against an abject business.
The expected audience is as diverse as the performing artists, as rich as the diversity of the country’s population, and visitors. To make sure the people feel as though they are part of the event, the show is designed to take place not only on stage, but also within the audience. All along Radiant Women Now, the link between the two sides of the premises is kept, as an Ariadne’s Thread.
Radiant Women Now is gathering together all these amazingly gifted people for a unique show:
