This event has been cancelled as everything flowered early this year.
Unbeknownst to many, Wyandotte County Lake Park is home to a carpet of native woodland wildflowers each spring. Naturalist and Educator Craig Hensley will lead a wildflower walk through the woodlands of Wyandotte County Lake Park in search of late spring wildflowers including showy orchid, wild geranium and jack-in-the-pulpit, among others. This walk, co-sponsored by Mr. & Mrs. F.L. Schlagle Library & Environmental Learning Center and the Kansas City region of the Kansas Native Plant Society, is open to the public as well as all members of the Kansas Native Plant Society. Please note that some of the hiking will be on narrow trails with inclines. Sturdy hiking shoes are advised. Participants will meet at the library at 4051 West Drive in the park (Kansas City, KS) and will drive from there to the hike locations.
To register for this walk, please contact Craig Hensley at Schlagle Library 913.299.2384 or by email at chen...@kckpl.org. This is the second of two spring walks.
